Frontier Airlines Flight 4345 was a scheduled domestic passenger flight from Denver, Colorado, to Los Angeles, California, in the United States. On May 8, 2026, the Airbus A321neo operating the flight struck a person on runway 17L of Denver International Airport, subsequently experiencing an engine fire, leading to the pilots aborting the takeoff.[1] Passengers were evacuated by the crew following reports by the pilots to ATC, signalling to smoke and possibly fire within the cabin.[1][2][3]
Accident
[edit]An unauthorized person bypassed the perimeter fence at Denver International Airport and accessed runway 17L, where Flight 4345 was attempting takeoff. The aircraft fatally struck the person, causing a brief engine fire, with smoke being seen in the cabin. All 224 occupants were evacuated via the aircraft's evacuation slides.[4] Following the incident, emergency crews extinguished the fire in the engine, and passengers were shuttled to the terminals.[5][1][3] 12 people reported minor injuries, with five being transported to hospital.[4] The person struck was partially consumed by the engine and killed.[1][6]
Responses
[edit]Frontier Airlines responded to the accident, stating that they were investigating the incident, and that all passengers were evacuated.[7][3]
